PublicInformationRequests.com exists to do one thing: get government records into the hands of the people legally entitled to them.
Not file requests. Not display pretty dashboards. Get the record. A user who files 20 requests and receives nothing has gotten zero value. A user who files one and gets the exact document in eight days has gotten everything.
The statutory right to file is free in every state, anyone can email a police department. The hard part is what happens after: agencies ignore requests, deadlines pass, denials cite vague exemptions, follow-ups go unanswered. That's where most records die. That's the part we own.
We pursue every request until it resolves: records produced, appeal filed, no-records confirmed in writing, or a binding determination obtained. Anything short of that stays an open loop and we keep working.
